Pickens County United Way is offering Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to anyone that made $60,000 or less in 2021 at four locations in 2022. You do not have to be a Pickens County resident to schedule for a VITA appointment in Pickens.


These four sites are available by appointment only. Please call 2-1-1 or 877-648-9900 to schedule, cancel, or reschedule.

* Central - Central/Clemson Public Library: Mondays 10:00am-2:00pm, 4 appointment slots per hour (starting 01/31/22)

* Pickens - Village Branch Library: Tuesdays 2:00pm-6:00pm, 4 appointment slots per hour (starting 02/01/22)

* Liberty - Sarlin Branch Library: Thursdays 10:00am-2:00pm, 2 appointment slots per hour (starting 02/03/22)

* Easley - Hampton Memorial Library: Fridays & Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm, 5 appointment slots per hour (02/02/22)

VITA sites provide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to individuals and families who earned up to $60,000 in 2021. Only tax forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ are filed (Federal and state returns for SC, NC, and GA).

Free parking for VITA participants at all locations.

CLOSINGS: **VITA site closings due to inclement weather will follow the Pickens County Administrators closings schedule--listen to local radio or TV for announcements.

Please bring the following documents to complete your tax return. Failure to bring all documents to your appointment may delay completion of your tax return.

1. Picture ID for individual and spouse.

2. Original Social Security card for all persons to be listed on tax return or an ITIN card for those without Social Security card.

3. Birth dates of all persons listed on tax return.

4. All wage and earnings statements, for example: W-2 Form, Social Security Income (SSI), Pensions, Annuities, Unemployment Compensation, etc.

5. Any interest and dividend statements (any Form 1099's).

6. Copy of last year's federal and state tax returns (if available).

7. Documentation supporting a claim to a dependent exemption due to dependents receiving support from multiple taxpayers (divorced or separated parents), for example: Form 8332, Form 2120, or other valid documentation.

8. Child care provider's Name, Federal ID or Social Security Number, and address. Also, provide the amount paid for child care.

9. If you paid real estate tax on your home, bring your paid receipt.

10. If you are itemizing your deductions, please bring a summary listing of your deductions and supporting details/receipts.

11. If you are taking college courses to further your education for a job, and you paid the tuition, please bring the tuition receipt and any financial aid or student loan statements.

12. If you want to have your refund deposited into your checking or savings account, bring your account details (The accounts routing number and account number). A blank check contains this information.

13. Information on which family members were covered by insurance during which months of the year.
- Did you purchase insurance through the Marketplace? If so, bring your form 1095-A.
- If you were covered from another source, please bring form 1095-B or C if one was provided for you.
- Please bring a list of who on your tax return had health coverage in 2021 and for which months they were covered, if you did not receive a form 1095 A, B, or C.

14. Be prepared to share how much you received through federal stimulus payments, both for yourself and those listed on the return.
